Dr. Maureen O’Malley, PhD, RN, passed away on September 16, 2020. Over the past decade, Maureen served two terms on the WIN Board of Governors as Secretary-Treasurer (2014-2020), in addition to serving on the Nominating Committee (2009-2012) and chairing WIN’s Finance Committee. Maureen was Secretary-Treasurer during WIN’s 50th Anniversary Conference in 2017, served on the Executive Director Search Committee, and helped guide the organization through the cancellation of the 2020 conference as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Maureen was on the faculty of the University of Alaska at Anchorage School of Nursing for 27 years, advancing to the ranks of Professor and Associate Director. Maureen served in the United States Air Force, both active and reserve duty, for over 25 years and retired as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserves. Maureen was an extraordinary leader and mentor—wise, generous, and kind—and we will miss her terribly. We extend our thoughts and prayers to her family, friends, and colleagues.
