It was my first year at the Western Institute of Nursing (WIN) conference, and I had been having a discussion with my advisor regarding measuring meaning for nurses in their work for my dissertation. I attended a symposium on workplace challenges, during which an instrument was presented that measured nurse meaning and joy in work. I approached the nurse scientist after the presentation and she offered to share information on the instrument, and welcomed any follow up questions. Without the experience at WIN I wouldn’t have made this connection and found an instrument that could assist me in measuring nurses meaning and joy in work for my dissertation research.
