2020 Conference Announcement
The WIN Board of Governors has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and assessing the risks and challenges of holding the 2020 conference in April as planned. As a nursing organization, we believe that it is imperative to support the efforts of public health agencies to protect the population. The health and safety of our members, student participants, and colleagues are our top priorities. So it is with deep regret that the WIN Board of Governors has determined that it is no longer feasible or ethical to hold the 2020 conference. We hope that making this decision now will allow our participants ample time to adjust travel plans for the upcoming weeks.
Canceling the conference represents a major financial loss to WIN, but given the information available to us at this time we believe cancellation is the right thing to do. WIN will begin refunding registration fees to all participants immediately and will be waiving all cancellation fees. Membership dues will not be refunded. We will begin refunding those who registered in December first and work our way through the participant list. Please understand that with a very small staff this process may take several weeks to complete. Our goal is to complete the refund process no later than April 17.
We will be working in the upcoming weeks to determine if any presentations may be delivered virtually or if we can extend opportunities to our 2020 presenters in 2021. We will share information as it becomes available.
The 2020 conference cancellation will mark the first cancellation in WIN’s 52-year history. During this challenging year, we look forward to working with our dedicated members to rebuild and strengthen our organization, to plan for an excellent conference in 2021, and to continue to improve health through nursing research, practice, and education.
Thank you for your many contributions to nursing science and to WIN. We look forward to seeing you in Salt Lake City in 2021, April 14-17. Save the Date.
